From CULTURE & MUSIC Henley Festival of Music and the Arts
09 July - 13 July Oxfordshire. Thirty years old in 2012, the Henley Festival - described as 'the summer's greatest party' - is held over five atmospheric July evenings on the banks of the Thames about 65 km (40 miles) from London, with visitors able to enjoy outdoor performances of music, dance and street theatre (some of them on a floating stage), visual arts displays and a firework finale accompanied by music.

This feast of music and performance is enhanced by al fresco eating and drinking opportunities in a variety of settings, whether it be Heston Blumenthal's gastropub inspired menu from The Hinds Head Bray or the Veuve Clicquot Terrace Restaurant, directly overlooking the river. Luxury picnics can be re-ordered.

Gentlemen are required to wear black tie, although suits or blazers with a tie are acceptable.

Ladies are invited to wear long or short evening dress, or evening trousers.
