From PROFESSIONAL SERVICES Burgess Hill School
Burgess Hill School for Girls is an independent day and boarding school for girls aged between 2 ˝ and 18 years. Boys are accepted in the Nursery. The School stands in 14 acres of beautiful grounds close to the centre of Burgess Hill town. It is a five minute walk from Burgess Hill railway station and coaches and minibuses collect girls from outlying areas of East and West Sussex.

The School is small enough that pupils are known as individuals yet large enough to offer breadth, choice and opportunity. Girls are able to strive for excellence wherever their talents lie and the mix of ages, working together on the same site, gives the School a special character. The aim of the School is to provide each girl with the opportunity to realise her potential and the focus is firmly on girls and the way they learn.

Burgess Hill School consistently ‘adds value’ to students’ academic results by focusing on each individual student, keeping class sizes small, understanding how girls learn and investing in good resources and high quality teaching. In 2011 Burgess Hill School was ranked 5th out of 632 independent and maintained schools in the UK for ‘value added’ performance by the Centre for Educational Monitoring at University of Durham.

Extra curricular activities cater for all ages and abilities in sports, music, arts and specialist subjects including sailing, golf, horse riding and chess and there are opportunities to go on educational and residential trips.

Our girls are enthusiastic and motivated learners and their attitude to learning is evident in everything they do, including our consistently excellent examination results. In 2012 all of our AS, A2 and GCSE students passed all of their examinations. At A Level, 83.5% of all results were awarded A* to B grades, with almost two thirds of the year group gaining A* to B, in all their subjects. Over half the girls achieved three or more A* and A grades. The vast majority of the girls go on to universities across the UK, including Oxford and Cambridge.

At GCSE, 98.9% were awarded A* to C grades will all students achieving at least five A* to C grades. More than three quarters of the year group achieved grades A* to B in all their subjects, and 37% gained all A* and A grades.

Burgess Hill School for Girls’ fees are competitive. Academic and Creative scholarships (including Drama, Sport and Art) are awarded each year.
