Just eight questions help users calculate heart attack risk

The heart disease risk calculator on MayoClinic.com helps users become better informed about their heart health and learn how to reduce their risk for having a heart attack in the next 10 years.

After answering several questions about lifestyle and health, the calculator determines the users 10-year risk of a heart attack. Risk scores are based on a number of factors, including age, gender, tobacco use, cholesterol levels and blood pressure. Approximately one out of 10 people with a risk level of 12 percent will have a heart attack or die of heart disease within the next 10 years.
