Right Ventricular Ejection Fraction Predicts Future Arrhythmic Events
Country of origin: USA
Click for Full Details: circep.ahajournals.orgResearchers followed 314 patients with ischemic cardiomyopathy or nonischemic dilated cardiomyopathy undergoing cardiovascular magnetic resonance to determine the value of right ventricular ejection fraction for predicting future arrhythmic events. Right ventricular ejection fraction ≤45% independently predicted the primary outcome of sudden cardiac arrest or appropriate implantable cardioverter defibrillator therapy (HR, 2.98; P = .002).
Researchers concluded that right ventricular dysfunction independently predicts arrhythmic events and suggest that right ventricular dysfunction may be utilized to better predict risk in patients with mild to moderate left ventricular dysfunction.
